This 700 special draw area, holds world class trophy elk, along with mule deer, whitetail, and antelope. Many sportsmen wait 5-10 years or more to have the chance to hunt trophy elk in this area. The Merriam’s turkey represents one of Montana’s most prized upland game birds and is also found right here in Garfield County.

Fishing Fort Peck
Fort Peck Reservoir is 134 miles long, spans (245,000 acres), and reaches depths of 220 feet. Fort Peck Reservoir offers some of the best fishing in the state of Montana, featuring a large variety of almost 50 different species, including trophy walleye, northern pike, and bass. Other species include paddlefish, sturgeon, catfish, salmon and many more. Go fishing from the shore or contact experienced local guides to host your next trip!

The Hell Creek Formation is an extensively studied geological formation known for some of the best dinosaur fossil attractions in the world, and is exposed in many areas near Jordan, Montana. Fossils like the “Dueling Dinosaurs”, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, Raptors, Ankylosaurs, and many more species continue to be found in Garfield County. The Fort Peck Reservoir is featured in the film Jurassic Park III as part of an excavation scene. Also, featured in the movie is a clip from our local Hell Creek Bar. More recently (2020-2022), a local rancher, Clayton Phipps, and his son Luke, starred in “Dino Hunters” which is a television series available on prime-time worldwide Discovery Channel.
